1. Who is the data controller

844-ai.ro is operated by Săftescu Gabriel, an individual residing in Romania.

2. What data we collect, why, and on what legal basis

2.1. Newsletter subscription. We collect your email address, preferred language, subscription segment (the public form uses the general segment), confirmation status, and last confirmation email date. Purpose: email subscription confirmation and newsletter delivery through Brevo. Legal basis: your explicit consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time.

2.2. Visiting the site. Our technical infrastructure automatically logs technical data, including IP address, for operation and security purposes. Legal basis: legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). We do not use this data for profiling or advertising.

2.3. Embedded video content. Some articles include YouTube or Vimeo videos. The external player is blocked until you choose “Accept and load video”. After acceptance, the provider receives your IP address and browser information and may use cookies or other technologies. Basis: your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), separately for each video. You can withdraw it using the button next to the player, which stops playback and removes the player. Full details in our Cookie Policy.

2.4. What we do not collect at this time. We do not use traffic analytics tools, advertising pixels, or reCAPTCHA. This policy will be updated before any such tool is activated.

2.5. Accounts. We process your email, display name, preferred language, protected authentication data, email verification status, and session data to create and manage your account, sign in, verify your address, and recover your password. Basis: performance of the service you request (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)); abuse prevention relies on our legitimate interest in protecting the service (Art. 6(1)(f)). Brevo sends verification and password recovery emails. Creating an account does not automatically subscribe you to the newsletter.

2.6. Comments. We store the text, author, date, related article or Flash AI, replies, and moderation status. Purpose: publishing your requested contribution (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)) and moderation to protect the community (Art. 6(1)(f)). Once approved, the text, display name, and date are public. The public comments interface does not display your email. Do not include medical data, passwords, or other people's personal data in comments.

3. How long we keep your data

• Accounts: while the account is used, until an erasure request is handled; data needed for incidents or legal obligations may be retained separately for as long as necessary.
• Comments: while published or needed for moderation; erasure requests are reviewed individually, including the author relationship. Account deletion and comment deletion are separate operations.
• Newsletter subscribers: while you remain subscribed. Confirming unsubscribe deletes the active database record; backups and provider delivery records have separate retention cycles.
• Technical data/logs: for the period strictly necessary for security purposes, per our infrastructure providers' policies.

4. Who we share data with

We do not sell or rent your data to third parties for commercial purposes. Amsterdam and Frankfurt describe the configured primary hosting regions, not all provider support or subprocessor operations. Transfers outside the EEA require applicable safeguards under GDPR Chapter V; contracts, subprocessors, and transfer mechanisms must be reviewed before activating new services.

To exercise these rights: privacy@844-ai.ro. We respond without undue delay, normally within one month of receipt. For complex or numerous requests, the period may be extended by two further months; we notify you within the first month and explain why.

7. Data security

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), restricted access to the admin panel, and authentication and abuse prevention controls.

9. Children

844-ai.ro is not specifically directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from individuals under 16.
